Both are intricately carved in profile facing the right. Eos has flowers in her hair and a necklace on, with the rays of the sun rising up behind her head. Nyx is graced with both flowers and a veil with a small crescent moon above her head. The goddesses are also depicted by their representative birds: an eagle for Eos and an owl for Nyx, both on branches with their wings spread apart. Ephemeral clouds curve behind the birds and up the shoulders of the women.Although the carving is not very 3 dimensional, it is detailed and has depth to the scene. The curved, oval shell is bezel set in a custom gold filled frame. A wire rope wraps around the cameo, and an ivy leaf border circles the frame. The pin is a little loose but stays securely in the C clasp. A small, horizontal loop is attached to the top. CONDITION: Very good for its age. The cameo has two small hairline cracks at the top left corner and a longer horizontal one at the bottom behind the carving. They can only be seen when you hold it up to the light (see photo #7). It is slightly loose in the frame but not in danger of falling out. The gold filled frame has very little wear except for one spot on the upper left side of the setting where someone either rubbed it vigorously or dropped acid on the metal. MEASUREMENTS: 2 7/16 inches tall and 2 1/16 inches at its widest (not including extended pin stem), the cameo itself measures almost 2 inches tall and a little over 1 9/16 inches wide.
